Massage therapy relaxes and promotes blood flow to the muscles and body tissue by kneading, tapping, stroking and putting pressure on certain points.
It aims to support you physically and psychologically, allowing time to be still and be supported to feel stress free for up to an hour and a half. Massage improves mood and sleep. It can aid digestion, and circulation. Studies have shown that massage helps those with anxiety manage their symptoms.
Regular massage supports a healthy lifestyle and a sense of wellbeing.
During my training as an acupuncturist I completed a level 3 diploma in massage. However, since the 1990’s, when I did a short course in massage and aromatherapy, I have been massaging family and friends. I learned baby massage in 2002 and practiced this regularly with my own children as a part of our healthy lifestyle. Currently, I help children with calming massage around anxiety, being careful and aware of body safety and their personal comfort. I use my knowledge of the meridian system and acupressure points to assist in my therapy to support my clients.
Baby massage is a good way to relax and calm a distressed infant, and can help with colic and other discomfort that a small child experiences.
Before a massage session we will discuss your health and any concerns you have, I will concentrate on any areas you feel need attention such as neck, shoulders, lower back or legs.
A whole body massage takes an hour, or if required the session can be concentrated on upper body for the time booked. One and a half hour massages can be booked in advance.
